Fire being treated as suspicious

A fire at a house in South Bank in Middlesbrough is being treated as suspicious, police say.

The blaze broke out at the semi-detached house on Bevanlee Road on Wednesday at about 2300 BST.

Police said they believed someone may have forced their way into the house and set it on fire.

The occupant of the home was not in at the time. Police arson investigators and officers from the Cleveland Fire Brigade are investigating.
