Work on £19m health unit begins

Work on a state-of-the art health centre which will offer certain hospital services has begun.

The new £19m building in Park Road, Hartlepool, will offer medical care from four GP practices.

It will also boast dentistry, pharmacy, diagnostics and out-patient services as well as some surgery, usually only available in hospital.

The new centre, which was approved last month, is due to open to patients in May 2010.
