Woman dies in two-car collision

A 76-year-old woman has died in a crash involving two cars on Teesside, Cleveland Police have said.

The local woman was driving a Nissan Micra southbound on the A19 in Hartlepool when it turned into the path of a Mercedes E220 travelling north.

Emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene on Friday night.

No-one was injured in the Mercedes. Police were appealing for witnesses to the crash near the Dalton Lodge Hotel junction at about 1815 BST.
