Woman stabbed in department store

A woman has been stabbed in a department store in Middlesbrough.

The 39-year-old was assaulted on the first floor of Binns House of Fraser in the Linthorpe Road shopping precinct at about 1640 GMT on Wednesday.

A 33-year-old man from Darlington has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Cleveland police said.

The woman suffered abdominal injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police.
