An East Sussex chef has won an award for an intricate sculpture of a samurai warrior created completely from fat.
Christopher Zammit, from Eastbourne, was the winner of the Works in Fat competition at the Hospitality Show held at the NEC in Birmingham.
The freestanding warrior, which is 2ft 6in (76cm) wide, was made from solid commercial chef's pastry fat.
Mr Zammit, 28, who works for Camilleri Caterers, spent 30 hours creating the model using his hands and a paintbrush.
He has now won more than 30 fat sculpting competitions around the world, including one in his home country of Malta.
The contest was sponsored by a catering supplier as part of the Salon Culinaire, which included masterpieces created from sugar, chocolate and fat.
It was judged on creativity, workmanship, degree of difficulty and presentation.
