Crash driver taken ill at wheel

A 69-year-old driver who careered off the road, hitting street furniture and two cars in a car park, is believed to have been taken ill at the wheel.

The man, from Bognor Regis, West Sussex, is in a stable condition in intensive care at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, police said.

The accident happened in Hawthorn Road, Bognor, near the junction with Nyewood Lane on Tuesday afternoon.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash involving the Vauxhall Omega,
