Fire-hit families at holiday camp

About 1,000 people had to spend the night at a holiday camp in East Sussex after their homes were evacuated following a fire on Sunday night.

Fire crews were called to the blaze which involved a single-storey building near the entrance to the Camber Leisure Park, Lydd Road, Camber, at 2330 BST.

Residents were taken to the nearby Pontin's holiday camp amid fears acetylene cylinders could explode.

Residents were allowed back to their homes on Monday morning.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
