Recycling to fund animal rescue

Wildlife supporters are looking for discarded mobile telephones to help fund their work with animals.

East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) has launched the mobile phone recycling project with the Envirocharities recycling company.

WRAS hopes money raised through the scheme will allow it to continue answering calls from the members of the public who find injured wild animals.

Founder Trevor Weeks said: "Without this support our service could close."

He added: "This is a great environmentally-friendly way of recycling your mobile phone, and helping nature and the environment even more, and saving the lives of wildlife casualties at the same time."

Phones, which can each raise between £3 and £100 for the charity, can be taken to WRAS events during October or registered online.
