Teenager charged over road death

An 18-year-old has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was hit by a car near a level crossing in East Sussex.

The female pedestrian, who has not yet been named, was declared dead at the scene of the accident in Station Road, Robertsbridge, on Friday evening.

Daniel Meredith, of Cherwell Road, Heathfield, was remanded in custody following the incident.

He is due to appear at Hastings Magistrates' Court on Monday.
