Fifth man facing robbery charge

A fifth man has been charged in connection with an incident in which a man had to be freed from a vehicle in East Sussex.

Harry Shanks, 25, of West Hill Road, Hastings, is due before Hastings magistrates charged with robbery.

The freed man was treated for minor injuries at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings and later discharged.

Four men have already been remanded in custody charged with robbery following the incident in St Leonards.

Sussex Police said the injured man had to be released from a vehicle after a call from a member of the public.

The incident took place in Cumberland Gardens on Saturday.

Matthew Orton, 29, of Brookland, Romney Marsh, Kent; Lee O'Brien, 22, of Marlborough Close, St Leonards; Philip O'Brien, 23, of North Street, St Leonards; and Nathanial Billings, 23, of Knights Meadow, Battle, are due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 28 November.
