Man loses ear in street assault

Police have revealed that a 21-year-old man had an ear cut off during a street attack in Worthing early on Tuesday.

The assault took place in Vancouver Road in Durrington at about 0200 BST.

One man from Worthing has been arrested but two others are still being sought, police said. A search of the area failed to find a weapon.

Detective Inspector Dave Wilkins said: "This was a particularly horrific crime as a result of which the victim will be scarred for life."

He continued: "I would appeal to anyone who has knowledge of the whereabouts of the men responsible to come forward and tell us."
