Three men have been arrested after an unprovoked assault on a man on a railway footbridge in West Sussex.

The attack happened at about 0330 BST on a bridge known as Jacobs Ladder near Tarring Street in Worthing.

Sussex Police said the victim, a 38-year-old local man, was approached by "at least two" unknown men and "assaulted for an unknown reason".

Three men were arrested in the area shortly after the attack. The victim was taken to Worthing Hospital.
