Power failure affects villagers

Nearly 100 homes in a Surrey village were left without power for almost nine hours because of a technical fault.

EDF Energy said a substation fault at about 0140 GMT on Tuesday meant supplies to some homes in Limpsfield were affected.

A spokesman for the company said a team of engineers reconnected power to residents in Padbrook and Detillens Lane just before 1030 GMT.

He apologised for any inconvenience "particularly in the cold weather".
