Thousands of toys are handed out

Four thousand toys are being delivered to charities across Surrey this week to be given to disadvantaged children.

The county council said it had collected toys and gifts using its 18 libraries as a drop-off point, which led to increased donations this year.

A spokesman said using the libraries offered greater flexibility to people, who used to have to travel to a collection point in Guildford.

Gifts from the Eagle Christmas Toy Appeal will go to several charities.

They include the CHASE Childrens Hospice, the Terrance Higgins Trust in Woking, Childrens A&E at Frimley Park Hospital, and the West Surrey Family Centre Childrens Team in Woking.
