The drivers of two trucks and a lorry ran over the body of a person who had fallen from a motorway bridge in Surrey, say police.
The body was found on the M25 eastbound at junction nine, near Leatherhead, on Tuesday afternoon.
Detectives want to trace the drivers of a yellow Mercedes Sprinter, a blue goods vehicle and a white Volvo articulated lorry with a trailer.
The motorists were unlikely to have realised what they hit, said police.
A spokeswoman for the Surrey force said: "When the body was on the carriageway it was struck by several vehicles.
"It's likely that the motorists didn't realise what had happened. Officers are particularly keen to trace the drivers of these vehicles."
She added "Officers are investigating the circumstances of this incident and inquiries are ongoing."
Any other witnesses who saw what happened are urged to contact police.
