A Surrey town is on course to meet its recycling target, according to the borough council.
The authority said more than 50% of the waste generated in Guildford was now being recycled.
Guildford Borough Council said its target rate of 60% for its recycling and home composting schemes now looked set to become a reality by 2010.
"Recycling is high on everyone's agenda", said James Whiteman, head of operational services.
"Guildford Borough Council is committed to increasing recycling rates and the community are giving us great support.
"In 2007/08 we've reached a recycling and home composting rate of 52.03%. So with the public's help - we're getting there."
