Roadshows over day service plans

A series of events is being held across Surrey to publicise changes to day services for people with learning disabilities.

Surrey County Council has organised roadshows in Guildford, Staines, Redhill, Woking and Addlestone as part of a four-month public consultation.

It wants to turn day four centres in Woking, Walton-on-Thames, Banstead and Milford into "centres of excellence".

The authority said the roadshows were a chance for people to give feedback.

Sally Marks, Executive Member for Adults and Community Care, said: "We are fully committed to ensuring that the plans are drawn up in partnership with people who use the service, carers and the public.

"Our aim is to ensure that everyone involved agrees that the modernisation plans best meet their needs.

"These events are just a part of a wide-ranging programme to ensure everyone who wants to put forward their views has the chance to do so."

The consultation into the proposed changes to day services runs until November.
