Inspections check kitchen floors

More than 150 commercial kitchens in Surrey are being checked to cut the risk of staff slipping or tripping.

Environmental health officers from Surrey Heath Borough Council are carrying out the inspections at food businesses until the end of August.

Teams will look at flooring, lighting, obstacles, and outside areas that may be used in the dark.

The authority said future projects were being planned to tackle risks posed by asbestos and noise.

Councillor Vivienne Chapman said officers would also be going through businesses' accident books during the inspections.
