A 42-year-old cleaner has been charged with the fatal stabbing of a pensioner at her Surrey home.

Nicola Bushnell, 42, from Epsom, Surrey, is due to appear at Redhill Magistrate's Court on Friday morning accused of murder.

The body of Joyce Cregeen, 81, was discovered at her house in Sefton Road, Epsom, on 15 May.

Surrey Police said Ms Bushnell had also been charged with three counts of fraud by false representation.

A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of Mrs Cregeen's death as multiple stab wounds to the torso.

She had lived alone in her house since the death of her husband Arthur in 1997 and had a daughter who did not live in Surrey.

Before retirement she worked in an administrative civilian role for the City of London Police.
