Woman dies after being hit by car

A woman has died in hospital after being hit by a vehicle in the car park of a Surrey beauty spot.

The 63-year-old had to be freed by fire crews after she became trapped underneath the car just off Shere Road, West Horsley, at about 2020 BST.

She was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital but died from her injuries, Surrey Police said.

A 34-year-man from Woking, who was driving the vehicle, has been arrested and an investigation has been launched.

Surrey Police have asked anyone with information about the incident that took place in the Sheepleas car park on Tuesday to contact them.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place on Wednesday evening.
