Teenage boy injured crossing road

A teenage boy is being treated in hospital for serious head injuries following a road accident in Surrey.

In an appeal for witnesses, police said he was struck by a Fiat Punto as he crossed the A323 Aldershot Road in Guildford on Friday afternoon.

The accident happened near the Fairoaks Caravan Park at about 1620 BST, and resulted in the closure of the road in both directions for several hours.

The teenager was taken by ambulance to the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
