Robbers target restaurant diners

Diners in Surrey have been targeted by thieves who broke into their cars parked in the grounds of a restaurant.

In the first of two incidents, a £200 laptop was stolen from a BMW after the rear window was smashed in the car park of a fish restaurant in Egham.

Five nights later, at the same location, offenders broke into the boot of a Peugeot 407 Estate and stole computer equipment worth over £1,000.

Both robberies took place between 1900 and 2330 GMT.

Surrey Police has reminded motorists to take their belongings with them when leaving their vehicles.

It has also placed signs in car parks around the area offering tips on how to protect against becoming victims of car crime.
