New breathing disorders website

People with chronic breathing problems in Suffolk have been asked to contribute to a new website offering help, support and advice.

Nurse consultant Linda Pearce told the Ipswich Breathe Easy Group annual general meeting about the new source of information to be set up soon.

The site aims to provide information relevant to their condition.

This includes advice on lifestyle, health and links to organisations that support those with breathing disorders.

"Our aim is to have services that are responsive to need"

"By staying in touch with people through these types of groups we are better able to understand what their needs are," said Ms Pearce.

"Our aim is to have services that are responsive to need.

"I hope that members of the Ipswich Breathe Easy Group will want to play an active part in shaping the contents of the website so that people across the county can benefit from it."

A new support service has 10 nurses and other health workers providing help for people in hospital and in their own homes.

The team will be based at the Ipswich and West Suffolk hospitals and services will be available seven days a week.

"Our focus is to help people to manage their condition so that they can lead as normal a life as possible," said Ms Pearce.

The new website will be set up soon but meanwhile information can be accessed through the hospital website.
