Seven cows were electrocuted when overhead power lines came down in a field in Suffolk on Sunday morning.
Hundreds of homes in the Ipswich area were also blacked out.
The animals died near Baylham when they touched high voltage wires lying on the ground and the farmer said it was the second time animals had died like this.
Power company EDF said birds may be to blame and they were installing stronger wires after the farmer made complaints to them about the incidents.
