An exhibition to mark Holocaust Memorial Day in Suffolk will replicate the piles of spectacles found at Auschwitz concentration camp.
Suffolk Inter-Faith Resource, the police, county council, and other community groups, are holding the event on 27 January in Ipswich.
They want to replicate the piles of glasses found during the liberation of Auschwitz, which belonged to victims.
One of the organisers said it was vital people remember what happened.
"The county has always had events on the day for the last five or six years," Elizabeth Sugarman said.
Educating others
"We wanted to do something to bring in the wider community. It's important we mark what happened and educate others on genocide and try and stop it happening again, which sadly it has.
"When Liverpool hosted the national memorial day they did the piles of glasses and it was so effective we decided to try and do it again."
In order to create a realistic exhibition organisers are appealing for people to donate their old glasses at selected Suffolk libraries.
When the exhibition has finished opticians Dollond and Aitchison will donate the spectacles through Vision Aid Overseas to people in developing countries.
The exhibition takes place at the Robert Cross Hall in the Corn Exchange on 27 January - the 64th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
