Body is found after fire in flat

A body has been found after a fire broke out in a building divided into flats in a Suffolk port at lunchtime.

Firefighters were called to the incident in Felixstowe after neighbours saw smoke coming from a flat on the corner of Ranelagh and Orwell roads.

Smoke was coming out of a top floor window in the three-storey building.

When firefighters in breathing apparatus went in to investigate they found a body. An investigation is under way, a fire service spokeswoman said.

It is not known if the person who died was a man or a woman but police have been informed.
