Elderly man's body found in river

The body of an 88-year-old man has been found in a Suffolk river.

The coastguard, Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue, Network Rail and the police carried out searches after the man was reported missing on Thursday.

His body was later found in Belstead Brook, Ipswich, just before 2000 BST, a Suffolk police spokeswoman said.

The man has not yet been formally identified and his death is being treated by officers as unexplained, the spokeswoman added.
