Boy, seven, 'driving crash car'

A seven-year-old may have been driving a car which crashed, police have said.

David Johnson's family's VW Golf car was found overturned near his home in Hadleigh, Suffolk, at about 0100 BST.

David, who needed treatment for an arm injury, was the only person in the car and police said there was no evidence suggesting anyone else was involved.

A police inquiry into the crash is under way. Neighbours said the car appeared to have mounted a kerb and hit a fence before landing on its roof.

Michelle Stone, 46, who lives near David's home, said: "I saw a little boy get out of the car, a fireman was holding his hand.

"He was only a little tot. He was really little. I wouldn't have thought he was even seven.

"I wondered how he could reach the pedals."
