Post Office to close 16 branches
The Post Office has confirmed that 16 of its branches in West Suffolk are to close following a consultation.
The Post Office said the cutbacks were necessary to make the service sustainable and most people would still be within a mile of a post office.
The move is part of wider proposals to reduce the number of branches nationwide by up to 2,500.
Last year, most of the planned closures in the east and south of the county went ahead despite protests.
Outreach replacements have been proposed for two more post offices in Gislingham and Wattisham Airfield.
The full list of proposed closures:
- Combs Ford, Stowmarket
- Crown Street, Stowmarket
- Old Newton, Stowmarket
- Fornham All Saints, Bury St Edmunds
- Great Ashfield, Bury St Edmunds
- Horringer, Bury St Edmunds
- Whepstead, Bury St Edmunds
- Risby, Bury St Edmunds
- Barton Mills, Bury St Edmunds
- Honington Village
- Cowlinge, Newmarket
- Exning Road, Newmarket
