Man jailed for love rival murder

Zak Spencer Hockley-Brown

A 26-year-old man has been jailed for life after he stabbed a love rival to death in Suffolk.

Keiran Botterill, of Stowmarket, plunged a knife into 21-year-old Zak Hockley-Brown's heart at a flat in Stowupland in September.

Mr Hockley-Brown was dating Botterill's ex-girlfriend and was stabbed while Botterill was "fuelled by drink and jealousy", Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Botterill was found guilty of murder and must serve a minimum of 13 years.

After sentencing, Peter Gair, of the Suffolk Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Had Mr Botterill not carried a knife, it is entirely possible that he may have avoided causing a death.

"He is now serving a life sentence and so will have plenty of time to reflect on his cowardly actions. One would hope that others will take heed."
