Man arrested in armed siege probe

A man has been arrested after a three-hour armed siege in Suffolk.

An armed response unit was called after the man barricaded himself inside a house in Boyton Road, Ipswich, on Thursday evening.

Police negotiators worked throughout the night before officers made a forced entry to the house at about 2330 BST.

A 54-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of threatening behaviour and for making threats to commit criminal damage.

He is being questioned about the incident at Ipswich police station.

A section of Boyton Road was cordoned off by officers who were called to the scene at about 2000 BST.
