New £32m black spot improvement
Safety is to be improved at an accident black spot on the A14 in Suffolk.
A £32m scheme between Haughley New Street and Stowmarket has been given the go-ahead by transport minister Dr Stephen Ladyman.
A new 2.3 mile dual carriageway with a two-level junction promises to give safer access to the A14 from Haughley, Harleston and local villages.
Dr Ladyman said: "The scheme provides safe crossing points for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders."
The surrounding area is to be landscaped to minimise the environmental impact of the scheme.
The work on the improvements is expected to start in early summer 2007 and last about 19 months.
