Council buys 10 stab-proof vests

Ipswich Borough Council A Suffolk council has bought 10 stab-proof vests for its traffic wardens, it has been revealed.

Ipswich Borough Council has bought the vests as a precaution after concerns that more staff could be at risk after being asked to work at night.

Councillor Inga Lockington, the council's transport spokesperson, said: "We have a duty to protect our staff.

"We don't think anything will happen, it is just a precaution." The vests were bought from Kombat UK in Ipswich.

Roger Granville, who sold the vests, told the BBC News website that Ipswich was the first council to order the vests, which cost about £75 each.
