New £74m business park proposed

Suffolk County Council Proposals for a £74m business park, which could create more than 1,000 jobs, go before Suffolk County Council on Tuesday.

The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) wants to build the park on land near Adastral Park in Martlesham Heath, near Ipswich, Suffolk.

The agency is asking the council to put up to £1m towards the scheme.

If the plan gets the go-ahead an application for planning will be put in by autumn 2006.

A report to Suffolk County Council's cabinet committee said the project would "reinforce the Ipswich sub-region as a world-leading communications industry centre".

It added: "It will also provide substantial confidence to existing businesses active within the sector and stimulate substantial additional private sector investment."
