Boy falls on to rail power cables

A teenager is seriously ill in hospital after falling 30ft on to railway power cables in Staffordshire.

The boy, who is believed to be aged 16, fell from a bridge on Granville Terrace, in Stone, on Friday evening.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said his friends had helped him off the railway line before emergency crews arrived at about 2030 BST.

The boy was flown by air ambulance to the specialist burns unit at Selly Oak Hospital, in Birmingham.

He had suffered other multiple injuries, the ambulance service said.
