The parents of a 17-year-old who died after being hit by an object minutes into New Year's Day say their lives will never be the same without him.
Apprentice carpenter Samuel Byrne, of Tamworth, Staffordshire, died after the incident in Comberford Road at about 0030 GMT.
His parents Gary and Leanne said their son had made them "so proud".
An 18-year-old man has been charged with Samuel's murder and will appear at Stafford Crown Court on Friday.
A statement released by Mr and Mrs Byrne said: "Words just can't describe the pain our family is feeling over the sudden loss of our beautiful son Sam.
"He made us all so proud and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Life will never be the same again.
"He will remain in our hearts forever."
Samuel had been taken to the Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield after the incident but later died there.
