Woman sexually assaulted in park

A woman underwent a serious sexual assault after a night out.

Staffordshire Police said the woman, in her 20s, was walking along Waterloo Road, from Stoke-on-Trent, at 0440 GMT on Sunday when she was attacked.

She was approached by a man, near Hanley Forest Park, who then pulled her into the park. Police have urged anyone with information to contact them.

Det Insp Glyn Patterson said the woman was subjected to a "frightening sexual assault which lasted nearly one hour".

Detectives are examining hours of CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

The attacker is described as in his mid-20s to early-30s, about 5ft 7in or 5ft 8in and of medium build.

He was wearing a striped yellow and grey top, light trousers and a hat.

Police added they had stepped up uniformed patrols in the area.
