Police arrest samurai sword man

A man has been arrested after being seen carrying a samurai sword in a Staffordshire village.

Officers on patrol spotted the man in Bluestone Avenue in Bradley, near Stafford, on Monday evening.

They used CS Spray and wrestled the man to the ground before disarming him, Staffordshire Police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and taken into custody. No-one was injured in the incident.

Ch Insp Wayne Jones said: "Pc Andy Hogan and Pc Stephen Sanderson demonstrated immense bravery and professionalism in the way they dealt with the incident last night.

"They put themselves at risk, acted swiftly and positively to resolve a potentially very dangerous situation."
