Government meeting over drug film

The mother of a man addicted to heroin for 17 years who made a documentary about himself has been to Westminster to try to get it shown in schools.

Ben Rogers, 34, of Alton, Staffordshire, filmed himself and his family as he tried to give up the drug before his death in 2006.

His mother, Ann, said the meeting with Home Office minister Vernon Coaker was "very constructive".

She said the government did not object to furthering the scheme locally.

"I have to accept that the government cannot order this into schools," she said.

"They can only help us get the resource together.

"They've got no objection to us furthering it locally, so all in all I think it was a very constructive meeting."
