Woman fights off robber with beer

A female customer fought off an armed robber at an off-licence in north Staffordshire with a beer can.

A man wearing a balaclava entered the shop in Chesterton on Friday evening and demanded money as he threatened staff with a knife, police said.

However, he escaped after a female customer who was in the Beasley Place shop threw a full can of beer at him, hitting him on the head.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
