Boom in canal marina development

The Stafford area could soon be getting another marina for canal boats.

The latest application to create a new marina at Woodseaves reflects the popularity of the area's waterways.

A £2m unit opened recently on the Trent and Mersey Canal at Great Haywood and plans for a 170-berth marina at Aston- by-Stone are also under consideration.

Now plans have been lodged for a basin to be created on the Shropshire Union canal with room for 40 narrowboats and a new footbridge.
