Man saved from smoke-filled home

A rescuer kicked down the door of a smoke-logged house and pulled his neighbour to safety.

A smoke detector alerted the man who found the occupant lying on a sofa at the property in Longdon, Rugeley, Staffordshire.

The ground floor was heavily smoke logged but the rescuer, who has not been named, managed to get the man out.

The smoke was caused by food left on a hob, a fire service spokesman said. The victim was treated at the scene.
