Cash taken in bingo hall robbery

Three men armed with a gun and knives escaped with cash from a bingo hall in Brighton after they threatened staff.

The robbers made their getaway from Gala Bingo in Eastern Road in a Blue Renault Laguna parked nearby and headed down Freshfield Road.

The car was found abandoned soon after the robbery on Wednesday night in East Drive, near Queen's Park.

Police said the robbers' faces were covered and at least two of them were wearing yellow fluorescent jackets.

They were all described as wearing dark coloured jeans and police said it was thought at least two of them were black men.

No-one was hurt during the robbery.

Sussex Police have conducted house-to-house inquiries in the Eastern Road and Queen's Park area to find witnesses and plan to study CCTV footage from the club.

The bingo hall was open for business again on Tuesday.
