Windsurfers from across the world have arrived in Sussex to remember a young British champion who went missing at sea and is now presumed dead.
Andy Funnell, 21, disappeared while jet-skiing near his home town of Seaford on Tuesday at about 1945 BST.
His family, friends and fellow sportsmen gathered in a vigil on Seaford's beach to remember the British Windsurfing Champion on Thursday.
The search for Mr Funnell's body has been delayed by bad weather.
His family and friends said they had accepted he was gone.
Mr Funnell's father Trevor said farewell to his son on the beach where he went missing.
He said: "You cannot imagine, it is just not possible to imagine and it will never go away.
"But he is flying free now and his spirit will live for ever, goodbye my son."
Windsurfers attending the vigil said Mr Funnell was a remarkable talent who had performed in competitions across the globe and had the world at his feet.
Nick Baker, a former windsurfing champion, said: "A lot of us say we'll do that next week, save it for another day but that's one thing Andy never did.
"He lived life to the full and enjoyed everything from the morning to night and often through the night on the water and land."
