Police station arson man charged

A man has been charged after an arson attack at a police station in West Sussex.

Michael David Finch, 46, was charged on Thursday after the incident at Chichester Police Station.

Mr Finch, of Martlett Close, Chichester, faces one count of arson to the police station and being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He was also charged with four counts of arson to police cars and one charge of attempted arson to a police vehicle.

Damage was done to four police vehicles parked outside the station as a result of the incident at 0330 GMT on Thursday.

Sussex Police said replacement vehicles were being obtained from other stations in the county and the inquiry office would be running as usual.

Mr Finch is due to appear before magistrates on Friday.
