Third person dies in house arson

Scene of house fire

A third person has died following an arson attack on a house in Sheffield.

Detectives investigating the deaths in Albert Road, Heeley, are treating the incident as murder.

Two people died at the scene on Friday night, while two others were taken to hospital. One of them died from their injuries on Sunday.

The fourth person was in a critical but stable condition in hospital on Sunday. Three people arrested in connection with the incident are in custody.

Window leap

The fire started downstairs in the mid-terraced home and when fire crews reached the scene it was well ablaze.

Neighbours reported seeing two people leap through windows to escape, while firefighters in breathing apparatus pulled two others out.

Police said the victims could not yet be named because not all family members had been informed.

A spokeswoman said she believed the force would be in a position to name them later on Monday.
