GP 'sexually assaulted patients'

A teenager said a GP's examination of her breasts was "more like something her boyfriend would do", a jury at Sheffield Crown Court heard.

Dr Parag Bhatt, 44, of Broom Lane, Rotherham, denies sexually assaulting six women patients.

In each case he is accused of inappropriately touching their breasts at Rosehill Medical Centre in Rawmarsh, South Yorkshire.

One complainant, aged 16 at the time, said his attitude was "pervy".

Another woman went to see Dr Bhatt four days after she had given birth and said the GP had reached inside her bra in a "groping motion", the jury heard.

Operated computer

Sarah Wright, prosecuting, said another of the six complainants had described how Bhatt had rubbed his hands all over her breasts.

The woman had complained that he did this with one hand while operating his computer with the other, Miss Wright said.

"Six women who did not know each other have independently made allegations that are very similar indeed," the prosecutor said.

"That suggests it's too much of a coincidence for them to have made up the allegations independently."

The trial continues.
