Garage users may hold murder clue

Michelle Greenwood

Customers who visited a petrol station in Thorne early on Saturday could help a murder inquiry, police have said.

Michelle Greenwood, 20, of Knottingley, West Yorkshire, died in hospital after being taken to Thorne police station. Tests showed she had been strangled.

Police want to hear from anyone who was at the Texaco garage at the junction of South Parade and Silver Street, Thorne, between 0300 and 0400 BST on Saturday.

They also want to trace the movements of a black Citroen Saxo, YS52 VUJ.

Anyone who saw the car in the Fishlake or Thorne areas of Doncaster in the early hours of Saturday is urged to contact police.

Jason Marley, 28, of Church Road, Stainforth, near Doncaster, has been charged with Ms Greenwood's murder and remanded in custody by Doncaster magistrates.

He will next appear before a judge at Sheffield Crown Court on 13 October.
