Funeral for boy killed on pylon

Michael O'Nion

Mourners have gathered for the funeral of a boy who was electrocuted while climbing an electricity pylon.

Michael O'Nion, 15, died in woods off Hollins Lane, Sunnyside, near Rotherham in South Yorkshire on 14 September.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died from electrocution. Police said the cables attached to the pylon carry 66,000 volts.

Michael's funeral was held at St Francis Church, Bramley. He was a pupil at Wickersley Comprehensive school.

Before the service the Reverend Lyn Wortley, the vicar at St Francis Church, said: "Our focus today is to help the family through this service and we will do that through focusing on the good things in Michael's life."

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the teenager's death.
