One dead as car crashes into pub

A woman died and four others were injured when a van came off the road and crashed into a South Yorkshire pub.

Police said the van was travelling on Stubbin Road in Low Stubbin, Rawmarsh, when it crashed into the Marquis pub in the early hours of Saturday.

The dead woman, who was 23 and from Doncaster, was a passenger in the van.

Four other female passengers suffered minor injuries. Two men, including the van driver, have been held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

South Yorkshire Police said the van driver was a 23-year-old man from Barnsley.

The other man who was arrested is 19 and from Dinnington.

The four passengers who were injured in the crash are aged in their 20s and 30s and are all from Rotherham.

Officers want to speak to witnesses or anyone who saw the van just before the collision.
